**Please take note that there are several children who have been / are sick. I ask that you please keep them home until they are well! I don’t want other children, as well as myself and family, to get sick. It is MPS policy that if your child has a fever, they must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.**
Due to the fact that students are sick, we are in need to Clorox wipes and Lysol in the class to help reduce germs as much as possible!

Week of October 17th
First, I apologize for this being posted late!!
This is the last week of the 9 weeks and report cards go out next week. Almost all of the grades are put in, but I am still taking a few this week.
I sent a note home Monday (on hot pink paper) regarding the advances in technology within the classroom. We got a SMART Board (an interactive board designed for students) and have started using Clickers. When using the Clickers (a multiple choice test) you will receive a progress report type of paper rather than the test itself.

Week of October 3rd
We are starting Unit 2 in reading. Our story this week is Tara and Tiree. We are focusing on nouns in our grammar lesson and r-controlled words in spelling. You will notice a new sheet attached in the homework packet. Please use the notebook paper (use front and back) to complete the assignment. Don't forget to sign the homework packet cover sheet!
The reading vocabulary and amazing words tests are on Thursday. Spelling tests are on Friday.
The students (majority of them) are doing great with AR tests. Please continue to read a book each night and write a note stating your child is ready. We are having trouble with some students not reading a book and being ready the next morning! AR is very important, as it helps with reading comprehension, fluency, and self-confidence.
We will continue discussing landforms, continents, and oceans this week in Social Studies. The test will be Monday the 10th. The study guide is in the homework packet.
Signed papers go home Tuesday! Return on Wednesday!
